Smart Grid Transformation in the Power Distribution Sector

ETP is playing a catalytic role in advancing the Philippines’ transition to a smart and sustainable power distribution network. Through the Smart Grid Transformation in the Power Distribution Sector project, ETP is translating policy into practice. This initiative fulfils the foundation to a smart grid following the Philippines’ Smart Grid Policy (Department of Energy Circular No. DC2020-02-0003). This technical assistance takes a holistic approach to the smart grid transformation of the distribution sector and will contribute to the deployment of renewable energy through embedded generation. The project will identify key issues, implement and propose solutions for smart grid adoption in power distribution, aligning with the Philippines Smart Grid Policy Framework.

To ensure the sustainability of the project’s outputs and promote replication for future asset management, capacity-building initiatives have been integrated in the project design. Ultimately, the project aims to demonstrate smart grid transformation with increased renewable energy adoption and enable demand-side management.
