We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Robert Cotton as Director of the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP).
Having served with ETP over the past five years, John has played a central role in the growth of both the team and the programme. His long-standing tenure ensures complete institutional continuity, backed by a deep operational understanding of ETP’s multi-donor frameworks, regional partner ecosystems, and strategic priorities across Southeast Asia.

Based in the region for two decades, John brings a strong blend of public policy expertise and private sector leadership across the energy, technology, and resource sectors. His approach to driving a just energy transition is anchored in solid academic assets, combining an MSc in Energy Policy from the University of Sussex with a technical grounding in Mathematics and Software Engineering from the University of Manchester.

As Director, John will lead ETP’s high-impact regional and country-level initiatives to accelerate renewable energy deployment, policy development, and the sustainable financing of energy projects across Southeast Asia.

His appointment came into effect on 19 October 2026.
