Transition to End Coal (TRANSEND) – Provision of Advisory Services for a Coal Phase Out Initiative

The Technical Advisory Services for the Early Retirement of a Coal-Fired Power Plant Project examines the process of coal-fire power plants (CFPPs) retirement and replacement with cleaner energy resources, thus reducing emissions of harmful pollutants (such as sulfur dioxide) which contribute to acid rain and air pollution. A key output from this project is the delivery of the Transition Advisory Revolving Facility Demand Assessment Report, which will introduce and inform the development of a facility which is able to support CFPP retirement. As an additional step, the project will carry out a comprehensive policy and regulatory review to explore the feasibility of implementing a pilot project (for coal phasedown) in the Philippines.
