Sustainable Energy Planning for Local Government Units

This project aims to establish the Local Government Academy (LGA) as the primary learning center for local sustainable energy planning. The technical assistance will support LGA in crafting a capacity development program on sustainable energy planning, as well as build a network of knowledge partners that could augment the training to be provided. It is envisioned that the training that LGA will eventually deliver at scale will enable LGUs to craft energy plans or programs and embed them in key local economic development plans, annual investment plans, and climate action plans. By doing so, clean energy planning at the local levels can be embedded; opening up the local markets for renewables, mainstream solar rooftop systems, facilitating the approval of utility-scale renewable energy projects, and strengthening local policy support for the country’s energy transition.
