ETP’s Contribution to the JETP Energy Efficiency and Electrification Working Group (E3WG)
ETP was appointed to lead the newly established Energy Efficiency and Electrification Working Group (E3WG). Formed in 2024, the E3WG contributes to a new section in the updated Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP), which is set to be launched in 2025.
ETP’s leadership is supported by collaborative inputs from the E3WG membership, which includes the International Energy Agency (IEA), World Resources Institute (WRI), Argonne National Laboratory (formerly part of the Net Zero World Initiative under the U.S. Department of Energy), the joint Indonesian-Danish Energy Partnership Programme (INDODEPP) and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
The E3WG works to enable JETP objectives, including:
- Assessing transmission and distribution losses, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Analysing energy use, demand-side efficiency potential, and electrification opportunities in the industrial, building, and transport sectors
- Estimating the investment required to implement energy efficiency and electrification needs
- Developing a shortlist of energy efficiency and electrification projects to be included in the updated JETP CIPP
- Proposing regulatory and policy enhancements to strengthen the market and enabling environment for energy efficiency and electrification initiatives
ETP and the members of E3WG are helping Indonesia advance its energy transition by promoting energy efficiency and electrification across both supply and demand sides of the energy system.
