The Just Coal Transition Platform is a regional platform co-funded by the World Bank
and the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership
The Platform convenes stakeholders in coal regions affected by the energy transition in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The focus is on knowledge-sharing, capacity building and enabling access to resources such as technical assistance and financial investments. The platform will be delivered through cross-cutting components, to support governments and local communities through the transition process.
COMPONENT 1
Bring together a diverse agenda and voices informed by expert-led Thematic Committees and
community-focused Peer Dialogues.
COMPONENT 2
Organize stakeholder workshops to identify needs – Economic diversification, labour and employment,
land repurposing, stakeholder engagement.
COMPONENT 3
Develop self-paced, virtual learning courses in local languages. Deliver live academy meetings.
COMPONENT 4
An open access knowledge and socio-economic data repository.
COMPONENT 5
Coordinate dialogues and collaboration between coal regions. Organize study tours.
COMPONENT 6
Identification of funding streams. Organize workshops on project proposal development for
stakeholders.
COMPONENT 7
Identify a long-term host, develop and implement a sustainability plan.
