Asia and the Pacific Project

Regional

A Study to Develop A Proposed Methodology and Guidelines for ASEAN-wide Integrated Resource and Resilience Planning (IRRP)

Part of the ASEAN Power Grid Advancement Program (APG-AP)

As part of the ASEAN Power Grid Advancement Program (APG-AP), this project feeds into ASEAN Interconnection Masterplan Study (AIMS III) Phase 3 to develop a proposed methodology and guidelines for ASEAN-wide Integrated Resource and Resilience Planning (IRRP).

The study will assess existing national planning approaches, incorporate international best practices, and recommend a harmonised method and governance structure to enable regular regional updates. By strengthening regional power planning, the project supports informed decision-making for cross-border interconnections, especially those with high renewable energy potential. This will help accelerate the realisation of a low-carbon, interconnected ASEAN power system and advance the implementation of multilateral power trade.
