The Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) is proud to announce it has received a Plaque of Appreciation from the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE). Awarded during the Sustainable Energy Awards 2025 on December 16, this recognition marks the second year ETP has been honored for its commitment to advancing renewable energy in the Philippines. The award was presented by Secretary of DOE, Sharon S. Garin, Director of the Renewable Management Bureau (REMB), Marissa P. Cerezo, Director of DOE Financial Services Clarita M. Garcia, OIC Director of DOE Legal Services Rowena Joyce Delos Santos, and Assistant Director of REMB, Ruby B. de Guzman.
Why It Matters
The Philippines is rapidly scaling its renewable energy goals, and ETP is on the front lines helping to bridge the gap between ambition and implementation. Secretary Sharon S. Garin and top DOE officials highlighted two major areas where ETP’s impact is felt most: offshore wind and advanced hydropower.

Spotlight on Storage
One of our most exciting current initiatives is the Enhancing Hydro Energy Storage Viability project. Alongside the Integration Consulting Group, we are helping the DOE unlock the potential of Pumped-Storage Hydro (PSH). Think of PSH as a massive “battery” for the grid; it stores energy when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing so it’s ready when the country needs it most. From training energy officials to exploring how old mining sites can be turned into water reservoirs, ETP is committed to ensuring the Philippines’ energy future is both sustainable and secure.
